CHEM 1B Chemistry Poems

Introduction:


  • Let's have some fun with Chemistry. Use your knowledge, humor and wit, to entertain and educate your peers. Write a poem for extra credit. Here are some examples of poems:

    Limerick-

    The soil had so much uranium
    It killed my prize geranium.
    It would have won shows
    But now it just glows
    Enough to light up a stadium.

    Haiku-

    Acids and Bases
    Donate and Accept Protons?
    Yes! Respectively

  • 3 points extra credit will be given for completing the assignment.
  • 1 point will be given for correct scientific content
  • 1 point will be given for quality
  • 2 points will be given for recording yourself reading it and uploading it to SoundCloud and sending me the link.
  • The best poem of each chapter will get an additional 3 points (10 points total) and will be read/played in class.

Rules:


  • Poems must be centered around the chapter you are assigned.
  • Poems must be no more than 200 words.
  • Poems must be spoken-word only (no music).
  • Submit your poems to me (both written and audio if applicable) by email with your name and perm number by 10 pm on the due date. Please don't put your perm number in your recording.
  • Your poems will be posted on the website for your classmates to see/hear.
